Cylinders off now...

First one fine,

Second one ... gah!

Won't even budge!

I will see what the forums think!

They have told me it is a rubber boot that fits on the oil filler tube to stop 'road air' and rubbish going up the pipe! ... will order one!

Now the head....

Easy to remove...

Very fouled however not bad after a good clean!

The pushrod tubes have also had a good clean!

All valves out apart from one stuck!

Oh well i can still grind it whilst it is in there!

All other valves ground great, no seat damage and well cleaned!

Time to Rock(er)

First rocker cover revealed alot,

Seal was not on properly, all twisted!

Very clean - good condition...

Clutch plate off - very dusty....VERY!

all cleaned out, great!

Drop successful!

Drop all good...

Bit of oil in gearbox,

Very oily but cleanable...

After a quick degrease >>

Full engine de-construction...

Dynamo gone,
Dynamo backing plate gone,
Fanbelt gone,
Fuel pump gone,
Fuel lines gone,
Carby gone,
Oil filler gone - still need to find out what goes on the end!,
Dist. Cap gone,
More tin gone,
Inlet manifold gone....

OIL DRAINED!!

Ready to drop!

Here goes...

Handbrake cable ...

After ordering a handbrake cable, I had a look at the locking system and sorted that out so the HB will lock activated...

I also replaced my heater cable after pumping grease down the heater cable pipe...

I have also re-covered my kickboards....

this was my first idea but now they are better, after they have dried i will upload a pic :)

I have also rubber down, buffed and polished my runners so my seats should actually slide now :)

i have also removed my wing mirror to replace the seal...

Now some interior work...

Door panels off - no splash screen!

Wll need to install one both sides!

Now to try to make the seats move...

Off they come with great difficulty,

No wonder!

Look at the runners!

Up on ramps...

Now i can get a proper look underneath.

All looks very sound - BUT OIL EVERYWHERE!

impossible to tell what is leaking oil so i will clean it all up and we will see what i am left with after...

Found my snapped heater cable...

Oil dripping from heat exchangers...

My oil breather pipe has nothing on the end ...will have to investigate what SHOULD go on there!

Time for an engine strip...

To reduce weight and risk of damage i will srip some components before I drop the engine out...

First to go - Leads - tabbed and labelled

- Air filter - oil to be drained and unit cleaned ready for re-use.
- Air tubes - need replacing,
- Coil and respective leads - to be cleaned, tabbed and labelled,
- Vaccum pipe - Carby to Dizzy..

Now some tinware...

We will call it a day at that...
